What are Home Groups?
With a larger platform, it can be difficult to manage which primary group a user belongs to when they are apart of multiple groups. This can impact reporting and analytics, suggested posts, etc. Home Groups is essentially a flag on a user that indicates their primary group.
NOTE: A user can only be in 1 Home Group and they must be apart of that group to have that group selected as a Home Group
Example: In this bulk user upload CSV, notice that the Home Group in column 6 is also a group found under the corresponding Group IDs column:
In this article, we will go over how you can add your team members to Home Groups by:
Bulk Uploading New Users (adding home groups when sending mass invite to join the platform)
Bulk Updating Active Users (adding home groups to a large list of active user)
Adding Individual NEW Users
When adding new users the process will remain the same - the only thing that will change is that you now have to address which Home Group that user should belong to.
Notice in the example below, the user added is apart of 4 groups, but out of the 4 groups only 1 Home Group has been applied:

When Bulk Uploading new users with a CSV, there is now an additional column requirement for you to add the primary group for the user out of the 2 groups that the user was assigned to in the groups column:

What happens to all of the existing users that have been on the platform before Home Groups was created as a feature?
To make mass changes for users that we added prior to the product feature release, you can request this as a change to your CSM.
Please provide a csv with the following columns: User Id & New Home Group ID
Remember - Home Group IDs are the same as the Group IDs, which can be found in the Group page of the admin portal:
